A stylishly renovated Victorian home. The sunny front porch is perfect for your continental breakfast or a relaxing glass of local wine at sunset. We are just 5 minutes walk from the town Square and the vibrant Martinborough cafes and shops. We are within 15 minutes walk or cycle ride from most of the vineyards and olive groves, most with speciality restaurants. There is an excellent little supermarket just around the corner for any provisions you may need. There's a trendy little cinema 5 minutes walk away with its own excellent pizzeria.
The countryside is gentle and beautiful to walk or cycle through as you make your way up through the hills or from one vineyard to the next. Further afield there is the dramatic South Wairarapa coastline, the tiny village of Lake Ferry with it's famous pub, Lake Wairarapa and Lake Onoke with wetlands, the unique Palliser Pinnacles and the Cape Palliser lighthouse with seal colonies right along the coastline. We have many special events throughout the year including the iconic Martinborough Fair, the Jazz Festival, Olive Harvest Festival, Cruise Martinborough as well as being part of larger regional events such as Kokomai Arts Festival, Wings Over Wairarapa and the Balloon Festival.
We do adventure sports too - canoeing, horse-trekking, cycle races, caving, tramping, fishing and more.
My house is 3 minutes walk from the bus stop. The bus connects to the Wellington-Masterton train line at Featherston rail station which is about 15 minutes drive from Martinborough. There are no public buses on Sunday.
There are 5 trains each way between Wellington and Featherston on weekdays, and 2 on weekends.
Martinborough has no internal public transport as the town is so small everything is at walking distance. I also have two great bicycles for guests for a small extra charge. Martinborough is flat and it's easy to get around on a bike.
Other things to note
Gypsy is the resident cat - she's very friendly and loves to meet and greet visitors!
She is diabetic though so please don't feed her - we don't want her to explode!!
I have two rooms on Airbnb so there may be other guests staying as well.
