Henley Lake has a network of flat walking tracks also suitable for cycling winding through 43 hectares of wetlands and native plantings with Henley Lake as the star. Viewing towers over the lake and wetlands allow for a different perspective of the reserve.

Henley Lake is the site of the ‘splash and dash’ event during one of the biggest events in Wairarapa, Balloons over Wairarapa. Balloonists test their skills with a flight over the lake dipping their basket into the water before taking off again.
The Waipoua River and Ruamahanga River flow along two sides of the reserve with excellent picnic spots along the banks.
