PLEASE NOTE: Our guided tours take place out in the open in the fresh countryside air of the Rangitumau Valley. The tour groups are small (maximum 12 people) and physical distancing is easy. Pukaha National Wildlife Centre

Pukaha National Wildlife Centre is an unfenced sanctuary for native wildlife. Our 942-hectare forest is home to wild kokako and kaka, while inside our aviaries we breed endangered birds for release across Aotearoa New Zealand.

On your visit you will learn about our conservation work and possibly see birds with their chicks in the aviaries. You may also come across wild birds in the forest such as the titipounamu (rifleman), karearea (New Zealand falcon) and the kereru (wood pigeon). You may also see advocacy birds like Manukura the white kiwi and Kahurangi the kokako.

Mount Bruce Lodge

Nestled into the Mount Bruce area we offer accommodation for up to 10 people at Mount Bruce Lodge. Originally a Nurses Home built about 1910 the property has been maintained sympathetically retaining high ceilings, good sized rooms and views of the rural area.

There are 4 bedrooms, one has a four poster bed, another has a Queen size bed. Another room has single beds and the other room has a bespoke set of king single size bunk beds. And finally, there is a sofa bed in the lounge to complete any large group.
