A Big Weekend
The weekend 13 November through to Sunday 15th is going to be huge in the Wairarapa! We've gathered together a list of cool events that are on, as well as fabulous food and wine options you can check out here.
iti - Small Works Exhibition and Fundraiser
Thurs 12, 6pm–9pm, Fri 13, 10am–9pm, Sat 14, 10am–5pm, Sun 15, 10am–2pm
Featherston Community Centre
The iti exhibition invites artists to put their creative stamp on the experience of valuing small, humble things by creating a series of small new works. It is a cash & carry show with all works priced at $150, with $50 going to support the Community Centre. Look out for the chalk walk created by local school children linking the exhibition to other events happening in Featherston over the weekend.
Celestial Navigation Talk
Friday 13, 7pm at Stonehenge Aotearoa.
An evening of navigation with Commander David Hedgley, former New Zealand Navigation Instructor for the Royal New Zealand Navy and New Zealand's number one expert in navigation by the stars, whose courses are always fully booked.
Gladstone Scarecrows' Big Day Out
Saturday 14, 9.30am - 2pm at Gladstone School
Visit the famous Scarecrow Fair for a creative display of themed scarecrows as well as all the fun of a country fair. Then grab a scarecrow map and do the Scarecrow Drive to see scarecrows dotted throughout the gorgeous country landscape.
Artisan Food Fair
Saturday 14, 1pm-5pm at Featherston Anzac Hall
Check out over 20 amazing Wairarapa artisanal food producers before and after the conversation with Annabel langbein, as well as second-hand cookbooks and food books for sale. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to taste the delights from the Wairarapa and get your Christmas shopping done early!
An Afternoon with Annabel Langbein
Saturday 14, 3pm - 4pm at Featherston Anzac Hall
Featherston Booktown invite you to hear the fabulous Annabel Langbein, in conversation with David Cohen, talk about her new memoir "Bella: My Life In Food" - all about her remarkable life and how food has shaped it, as well as some of the recipes that have resonated most strongly with her. Check out the Food Fair before and after Annabel's event. Get your tickets here.
On Saturday 14 Carl Webley will be performing from 2-5pm. Pizza and platters available.
The Shenanigans at The Greytown Hotel - The Top Pub
Saturday 14, 6pm Main St Greytown
The Top Pub have secured Toast's favourite band 'The Shenanigans' to play live at The Top Pub, from 6pm - expect full festival mode! Head along and dance the evening sunshine away, and taste some fabulous Martinborough wines too.
Moy'ster Fest at Moy Hall
Saturday 14th November from 3:30pm-8pm
The Moy Hall team will be pouring wine, Martin Bosley will be on the Moy'ster Bar shucking fresh oysters from Yellow Brick Road and crooner Steve Carlin will be setting the vibes to cool and casual. A light food menu will be available, a range of oyster accompaniments, champagne and Moy Hall wines. Grab a table or a beanbag on the lawn and bring your dancing shoes to enjoy Steve Carlin's repertoire of songs from the swing era. Bookings not required.
Sunday 15, 10am at Palliser Estate Wines Martinborough
Join Palliser Estate for bubbly & Rosé galore, with delicious food from Egmont Street Eatery, the cool sounds of French for Rabbits, and guaranteed good vibes. Don't cancel your plans to visit Martinborough - grab a beanbag and park up on the lawn for the day instead! The perfect way to kick start summer.
Union Square Garden Party Summer
Book for one of the two sessions: Sunday 15 in Martinborough:
Session One 10am-1pm with live band Jazz Band Gypsy Jam Jars.
Session Two 2-5pm – with the the Noodles.

On 14 and 15 November Margrain's cellar door and cafe will be open as usual, and there will be live music. Check out the wine tent on the lawn on the Sunday with Graham and Michelle Margrain and winemaker Strat Canning serving your favourite wines, including of course Rosé and bubbles.Pizzas, burgers and platters available from The Vineyard Cafe at Margrain Vineyard. Sunday 15, 10.30am - 3pm at Carrington Park, Carterton
Pack a picnic and head to Carrington Park for a day of interactive acrobatic fun with Tangata Circus - an exciting outdoor experience for the whole family with fast paced hula hoops, graceful handstands, impressive acrobatics, and playful audience interaction. Centered around a beautiful piano, musician Jackson punctuates the acrobatics with a story through music. Entry is free with voluntary Koha for the performers.
