 Welcome back Australia! And an even bigger welcome to the Wellington region. Here in the Wairarapa, not far from Wellington City, we're looking forward to seeing you soon.

The Wairarapa is a stunning region known for delicious wine and food, rugged coast, forest parks and cycle trails. The perfect day-trip or weekend away from Wellington.

Martinborough Wine Village is where you'll find some of NZ's best pinot noir, made mostly by family-owned vineyards. 

Get on your bike (or one of ours) 

Cycle the vines in Martinborough. It's great fun and super easy! Our roads are flat and distances between our vineyards are short. Enjoy cycling between vineyards, stopping off for tastings and lunch along the way.

Head for the coast

Castlepoint and Cape Palliser have unforgettable scenery, great swimming and walking tracks too. 

A day trip from Wellington

There are plenty of ways you can have a great day trip from Wellington. Make a plan.

Come without a car -  catch the train

Trains connect Wellington with the Wairarapa towns. Check out a Wellington to Wairarapa timetable here (some services may be by bus which you can check here). 

To get to Martinborough simply hop off the train in Featherston (the trip is only one hour from Wellington) and board a bus for the 15min trip to Martinborough. The bus meets every train except the late train on Fridays (some services maybe by bus which you can check here).

Take a guided full day tour 

Green Jersey Cycling the Vines – there's a bike, tandem or rickshaw with your name on it! The quiet roads of Martinborough are ideal for cycling, so you can take your time to soak up the scenery and go at your own pace. Hop on the train from Wellington and Green Jersey will transfer you to and from the Featherston train station. Have a half or full day guided/self-guided tour.
