Brodie Estate is a small family owned vineyard in Martinborough. Martinborough was the first place to grow Pinot Noir successfully in New Zealand. It is ideal in Wairarapa for Pinot Noir with a special climate; low rainfall, good heat in the summer but rarely above 31 degrees, long warm autumns with little rain and cool nights.
This vineyard was planted in 2001 with Pinot Noir on 10 acres. The plants have been grown without irrigation which leads to plants that put their energy into the fruit and not into the vegetation, producing small succulent berries with intense fruit flavours and spicy and savoury characteristics.
Brodie Estate produce 1,000 cases of high quality pinot noir each year.
