The Carterton Mountain Biking Track is at the end of Dalefield Road in Carterton. This is a fantastic mountain bike track suitable for the whole family.
The trail is on lightly contoured land between Dalefield Road and Kaipaitangata Stream, east of the Water Tank making for some wicked humps and hollows, a few bridges and some nicely bermed corners. The park has two trails, an outer loop and an inner loop; the outer loop gently sweeps around the boundary of the park, there's good visibility and it's wide enough to ride two abreast.
The inner loop is more technical with a couple of little hill climbs and the trail tends to snake around the young pine trees making for a more exciting ride at speed.
The crown jewel of this mountain bike track is the skills course; it's essentially for beginners and intermediate riders enabling them to gain confidence and improve balance on obstacles before attempting anything more challenging.
There's seating for tired riders, or parents who just want to relax and watch the kids go for it.
