Kahutara Taxidermy & Canoes

Kahutara Canoes

Be sure to visit this unique museum of natural history where you can see a collection of mounted animals and birds from New Zealand and overseas, all housed in a log building.

Check out their new African room with sculptures including a great white shark that is about 3 metres long, along with their newly refurbished rhino, together with stunning photos of wild animals taken in South Africa, and much more. An ideal activity for the school holidays!

But that's not all Kahutara Taxidermy offers its guests.

Take an unguided freedom paddle down the scenic Ruamahanga River in a way you never have before! Three self-guided river trips are available that vary from ¾ hour up to 5 hours. Stop off for a swim in the summer on the river bank or enjoy a picnic. There is no age limit.

If you enjoy peace & quiet and getting off the beaten track this is for you!
