Venture beyond Earth on a Star Safari!
Give yourself some space this weekend. From the creators of Milky-Way.Kiwi comes Star Safari. Discover the universe with their powerful telescopes, planetarium and space science communicators.
Take a Star Safari in the Wairarapa every Friday and Saturday
Spend Friday and Saturday evenings with the stars at Stonehenge Aotearoa, or check out Star-Safari's state of the art portable planetarium on Saturday mornings (see sessions and timings on their website) to learn how to find Matariki and what's in the night sky, regardless of the weather. Star Safari is the social enterprise that brings access to the night sky for everyone, from the creators of Milky-Way.Kiwi the online platform for space and astronomy news with New Zealand flavour.
When the stars are visible?
When the sky is clear, or even partially clear, you will be able to start your Star Safari with telescope viewing, and afterwards enjoy exclusive access to the astronomical observatory at the henge.
When the sky is cloudy?
Sometimes the sky is cloudy, so you'll start with a full guided night tour in the henge. Then you will see an interactive presentation of the night sky with Astroreality 3D Printed Augmented Reality products, online telescopes from SLOOH and Stonehenge's own experience of the sky.
Check out the Mars Exhibition
You will get a sneak peek of the Red Planet and learn about New Zealand's contribution to Mars exploration at Stonehenge Aotearoa's incredible Mars exhibition, made with support of top Mars researchers from the New Zealand Astrobiology Network.
Telescope viewing. If the weather is suitable for stargazing and when it is dark, you will get to see what's hidden inside the amazing night sky with help from giant telescopes.
