The walks in the Waiohine Gorge can be as long or as short as you choose, all with spectacular scenery.
One of the tramps from here is the two-day Totara Flats route which takes you to a beautiful setting where the Waiohine River meets Totara Creek. Take advantage of the excellent swimming hole right in front of the hut.
Camping is allowed in secluded bush areas or open settings at the road-end.
Location
From Carterton, turn into Dalefield Road, then follow the yellow Taraura Forest Park signs to Waiohine Gorge Road.
