The easy walking track to Donnelly Flats only takes 1 hour, passing through some of the best mixed podocarp/broadleaf forest in the Tararua Forest Park.
Cross the Atiwhakatu footbridge and follow the relatively flat track to Donnelly Flat, with access to Atiwhatatu Stream, then loop back to the Holdsworth car park via the foot of the Gentle Annie Track, where you'll see impressive rimu, miro and northern rata tower over a canopy of kamahi, red beech and silver beech.
Location
The trail starts from the entrance to Tararua Forest Park on Mount Holdsworth Road. To get there, turn off State Highway 2 into Norfolk Road and follow the signs to Tararua Forest Park
