A day at the races is always exciting – and there’s nowhere better to enjoy one than the 150 year old Tauherenikau Racecourse. The Tauherenikau Races are a great country day out for the whole family, with quality racing and plenty of activities for the kids. Meets are held each year in November, on January 2 and on Waitangi Day.

The Tauherenikau Races are famous for their picnic atmosphere, with generations of families considering a day here together a special tradition. Pack a picnic, nestle under one of the large trees and enjoy what must be one of the most beautiful racecourses in New Zealand. There are always plenty of activities for kids too - bouncy castles, face painting, mini train rides, and even a magician. Punters also have the chance to join the Punters Club with a chance to share the pool winnings at the end of the day!
