Rewanui Forest Park is a series of short loop walks about 20 minutes from Masterton, taking in native bush and pine forest and a great place to stop on the way to or from Castlepoint or Riversdale.
About
The loops through the native bush are designed to visit as many of the big trees as possible and include The Mt Clyde track with its steady climb but stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and the Exotics Loop across the farm to some recent tree trial plantings.
You can also check out the Totara Loop with its very old Totara, Hinau, and Rewa Rewa trees, and the Matai Loop for its old Matai trees, that also links to the Kōwhai Track.
Maps of all the tracks are available in the shelter.
Location
To get there, turn right into Te Ore Ore Road on the northern outskirts of Masterton, travelling towards Castlepoint for 22km (about 20 minutes). Look for the Rewanui Forest Park sign, with the car park 400m beyond it.
