Miniature Train Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton

The historic miniature train

A ride on the historic miniature train at Queen Elizabeth Park in Masterton is loved by both kids and adults and a must-do when you're in Masterton.

Now your train ride is even better with an old favourite returning to the miniature train track! The steam engine, Locomotive No.74 is back in business and doing what it loves best - carrying passengers around the park island circuit in the Lake of Remembrance. The steam engine is the genuine article working to exactly the same principles as a full-size steam engine. Locomotive No.74 is one of two miniature engines at the park, the other a diesel engine, called Doug! Steam or diesel, the miniature train is a popular attraction at the park.

The miniature train is open between 11am and 3pm on weekends, public holidays and every day in the school holidays (weather and volunteers permitting). All tickets are $1.

While you're at Queen Elizabeth Park you can also try out the new skatepark, ride on a pedal boat, play a round of mini golf, feed the ducks, walk over the swing bridge to visit the deer and take a walk around Queen Elizabeth Park's beautiful trees.

It's the perfect place to bring kids with a huge playground, flying fox, and BMX track.
