The Solway Show Grounds in Masterton are only an hour and half from the ferry or Wellington city, less from the Hutt Valley, and virtually the same distance from Levin and Palmerston North. Choose a site to set up under any of the beautiful large plane or oak trees and enjoy the peace and quiet the park setting. Wake up to a beautiful dawn chorus - a favourite with guests. Just five minutes from a supermarket, local butcher, a cinema complex with restaurant and cafe, a number of boutique shops or a Post Office.
Rates are reasonable just $7 per person per night plus a $6 power fee. Dogs are welcome: normal requirements of dog ownership need to be adhered to while staying/visiting the park. There are sheep grazing at the park so your dog must be vaccinated against sheep measles and be kept under control at all times with all 'doggie do's' disposed of in the bins provided.
The site is secure, fully fenced and gates are locked at night. Gates open at around 7am each morning and close around 6pm: if you arrive/leave earlier please use your NZMH code to enter/exit the park. Payment can be made on site via the Iron Maiden located in the Kiosk, a small oval building with a red roof located at the end of the Grandstand. Look for the WINGS signage on the door.
Water, toilets and great hot showers and a laundry service with coin operated washer and drier are provided . Laundry charges are $4 per wash and $4 per 40 minute dry. Change is available at the office across the centre oval.
During the winter motorhomes are on placed a hard surface. In spring and summer you can park under the beautiful trees.
