Cobblestones Museum
History comes alive at Cobblestones Museum. With six heritage buildings, a huge collection of agricultural, horticultural, & roadmaking machinery in two acres of gardens it's fascinating for young and old. On SH2 about one hour north of Wellington.
About
Cobblestones Museum is located in Greytown on the original site of the stables operated by Cobb & Co and the Hastwells to provide a passenger service between Wellington and the Wairarapa from 1866. Historical Wairarapa Buildings located at Cobblestones include the Hastwell Stables, the first Wairarapa church, the Donald Woolshed (1858), Wairarapa's first public hospital (1875), a one room country school and an original Greytown colonial cottage (1867). The Museum owns a collection of vintage farm machinery and horse-drawn vehicles, including the 'Pride of the Valley' Cobb & Co coach built in 1906. The Printing Works has a collection of working vintage presses.
The historic church and grounds can be hired for weddings.
