Flat Point

Flat Point is just an hour east of Masterton and Carterton. It has sandy beaches, a rocky shore to explore, and sheltered boat launching. It's the perfect spot for beach-combing, and the 'close to shore' reef makes for excellent diving.

You'll find surfing spots on either side of the point. There is also a sunken reef to the south, about 500 metres offshore, which creates good surfing in certain conditions. Stay safe in & on the water.

Flat Point was named by Captain James Cook during his navigation of New Zealand's coast in 1770.
